Chasing a target of 221 runs, Mumbai Indians completed the chase in 19.1 overs and also broke their long-standing opening-match losing streak that had lasted 14 years.

Rohit Sharma led the batting attack with a quick 78 runs off 38 balls, while Ryan Rickelton added a strong 81 runs off 43 deliveries. On the bowling side, Shardul Thakur delivered an excellent performance by taking 3 wickets and earned the Player of the Match award.

Under captain Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians also reached a major milestone by becoming the first franchise in T20 history to complete 300 matches. Their next match will be against Delhi Capitals on 4 April 2026.
